ONE long post

Rustin had to go to the hospital January 22, 2010. This is him trying to smile and feel better.

We took him into to the night and weekend clinic because he was fevering & breathing heavily and rapidly. We found out his oxygen level was down into the 80's when it was supposed to be in the 90's. We did an x-ray. While we were waiting for the results we did a breathing treatment. The treatment didn't do a thing for him. During this little waiting process which seem like forever Rustin also threw-up! The results came back and the doctor was puzzled. It didn't really show us much. There was a little cloudiness but nothing really. All his symptoms were weird and didn't really lead to one thing. Dr. Larson decided to call Dr. Morrill and they decided to admit him because he couldn't keep is oxygen up. They had to give him an IV and pushed rocephin and fluids. At this point they thought he had bronchiolitis. Which is kind of like brochitis but deeper down in then bronchi. So we were going with that, but he just wasn't doing good and his oxygen was kind of low, but up to 88 from 83. We spent the night, yeah the whole family... including little Ryler. Randy and I were up all night and most of it was due to Ryler waking up every time the nurse came in to check on Rustin. Dr. Morrill came in the next day and decided that we could go home because he oxygen was staying around 88, still low but safe enough that he sent us home. (Randy says I kind of pushed it, which I might of but man it was a horrible night and we both wanted to get out of there.) While we were home Rustin was still acting tired, still fevering but not breathing as heavily.
Randy trying to find a show for Rustin to watch.
Me and my boys the next morning. Malarie brought me some new clothes and Aunt Kristi washed Rustin (remember he threw-up) and Ryler's. Randy just brought his the night before.
Trying to get a little rest and watching cartoons.
We went for wheelchair rides often.
Our little family all there with our sick little boy :( We finally got to go home, until monday at least...
We had a follow-up appointment with Dr. Morrill on Monday January 25, 2010. We were hoping that his oxygen was better and that we could just go back home. We checked his oxygen and it was back down to 83-85 range. He ordered another x-ray and then we waited. It came back and it was quite a bit cloudier than the last one that we had. Yep, we had to go back down to admitting and check back in. Dr. Morrill decided that he had Bronchial Pneumonia. They started another IV and gave more meds and fluids. Later that day we seen Dr. Beals (he is Rustin's pediatrician). He started Rustin on breathing treatments every 3 hours that night and it was all up hill from there. The next morning his oxygen started to stay up and he was literally jumping on the bed playing around. He was so busy that he pulled out his IV on accident and we didn't know it until the nurse started to give him another round of rocephin. They just decided that he was doing well enough that he didn't need the medicine and so they didn't have to give him another IV. Thank-goodness... That night we got to go home yet again. We had to continue the breathing treatments every 3 hours for the next day and then slowly taper them off. I will just say that they albuteral sure does change behavior.... Rustin was quite the little turd for a while!

Rustin was pretty good about getting another IV. Rustin always wanted Randy to hold him while he got his IV and both times he got there just in time to hold him.
Ryler was a little sick of the hospital so Aunt Kristi gave him a ride in the wheelchair.
He was good about changing his clothes again but wanted to leave his boots on. He left them on clear up until bedtime when I made him take them off to go to bed. He also stored all his toys and things that people brought him right here on his bed.
I love this picture. Sad but cute....
This is what a boy that wants to go home looks like. He sat here most of the day cuz he felt so good. He walked around colored jumped on the bed and drove his mom crazy.
Apparently this is what you do for fun in the hospital. See how much of your body you can color on. I think he did a pretty good job of getting it everywhere. It was even on his belly....

Aunt Kristi and Rustin messing around....
Waiting for Dr. Beals to come tells us we could go HOME.
Still waiting...
Rustin got balloons and a Kitty from Kloee and Keeton

Kevin Green giving Rustin his last treatment before we went home

Frosty the Snowman

And Snow Angels.....
Rustin had a blast making his angels.

This is our FROSTY. Rustin and I went out on one of our warmer days and built him. He was so cute out there in our front yard and now the top of his head had melted. We still like him though.

Jazz

Randy won Jazz tickets at "one of those Dairy meetings". The tickets were for the January 14th game- Jazz vs. Cavaliers. Anyways, we of course took Ryler and these are the only 2 pictures we got of us there. We took them of him with my cell phone because I didn't take my camera with us and it was his FIRST game. He was so good during the entire game that lasted until like midnight! We were enjoying the game and if any of you watched it you know it was a good game... We were down by like 7 or 10 or something like that, with like I don't even remember how many seconds left but only a few. Randy and I kept going back and forth with weather we should leave or stay for the few seconds, since they lost ya know??... and it was midnight and we had baby Ryler. So we finally decided to leave a few seconds early, along with like a ton of other people, and figured we got out of there just in time to miss the BIG crowd. We even got a FREE gallon of MILK that meadow gold was giving away. It wasn't until we got home and Randy was talking with his dad that we found out that THE JAZZ WON! Man, it was like the most exciting win they have had in a long time and we left just a few seconds early and missed it.... Poo! I guess we learned a lesson to stay until the buzzer beeps and the game is actually over. There was also a woman sitting down in front of us and she has some "BLING" on and Ryler just kept playing with it and smiling and being so shy to her. It was so cute and I think that helped keep him entertained for so long. Thanks to all the people out there that help keep our kids entertained....
